Why we ask so many questions (and why it helps you)
Audio isn’t one-size-fits-all. Sound behaves differently depending on:
- Space: open air spreads sound and loses energy; rooms reflect and amplify.
- Noise: wind, traffic and general crowd noise can change what “loud enough” means.
- Program: one mic for welcome speeches is simple; DJ + video + multiple presenters is not.
- Expectations: “clear speech” and “club-level dancefloor” are totally different outcomes.
The more detail you share, the more confidently we can recommend the right speakers, mixer setup and microphones — with safe cabling and clean, reliable sound.
Typical hire building blocks
Most events need a few core pieces:
- Speakers (powered speakers on stands or larger systems when needed)
- Mixer to balance microphones and music sources
- Microphones for speeches (wired by default; wireless handheld or lapel available)
- Cabling + safe cable runs to keep walkways clear and tidy
If you have multiple audio sources (DJ controller, laptop/slideshow, instruments, karaoke), tell us early so the mixer and inputs are spec’d correctly.
DJ, presentations & “one system for everything”
If you want the same speakers to handle:
- DJ music,
- speech mics,
- and presentation/laptop audio,
…please say so when you enquire. Correct routing and input planning matters, and it’s best solved before we arrive.
If you’re also hiring screens or data gear, mention it so we can plan HDMI + audio together. Pairing with presentation pack hire is common — quoting them together avoids last‑minute surprises.
Outdoor events: weather, coverage & extra power
Outdoor sound usually needs more punch than the same crowd indoors, because there are no walls helping the sound carry.
Also:
- Electronics can’t get wet. Please have shelter or a rain plan before confirming.
- Coverage matters. A long, narrow space needs different placement than a wide lawn.
- Wind and ambient noise can require a bigger system than you expect.
Running it yourself vs booking a technician
Some events are easy to run after a quick handover briefing:
- playlists,
- occasional mic on/off,
- a simple speech program.
If your event has fast transitions or multiple inputs (DJ + presenters + video + live moments), a technician can be booked to:
- manage levels,
- prevent feedback,
- keep speech clear,
- and smooth out transitions.
(Technician support is quoted separately.)
