Frequently asked questions

How does coffee machine hire work?
You book the machine, we deliver it to your venue with the coffee, milk, cups, and everything else needed for your guest count. We set it up, and run you through the controls before leaving. Most hirers manage the machine themselves without any issues. We collect everything at the end of the event or next day.
What’s included when I hire a coffee machine?
The hire includes the machine, coffee beans, fresh milk, sugar, stirrers, and disposable cups with lids — quantities based on your guest count. Everything comes in one delivery. You don’t need to source anything separately. If you’d like dairy-free milk as well, arrange that yourself and let us know in advance so we can confirm compatibility with the machine.
What kinds of coffee drinks can the hired machine make?
Our machines produce espresso-based drinks — espresso, cappuccino, latte, Americano, and coffee. These are proper milk-frothed coffees, not instant. The exact drink range depends on the model in your booking. Fully automatic machines handle milk frothing at the press of a button; semi-automatic models give you more manual control. Tell us what your guests are likely to want when you enquire and we’ll confirm what the machine can do.
How many cups of coffee can the machine make per hour?
A commercial single-group machine produces roughly 30 to 60 cups per hour when operated at a steady pace — allow around 35-90 seconds per drink when you factor in the frothing cycle. For a corporate training day in Sandton where 80 people all want coffee during a 20-minute break, that throughput will create a queue. If you’re expecting a concentrated rush, discuss your event structure at booking — a second machine or an operator who knows how to run one efficiently makes a real difference to the experience.
Do you deliver and set up the coffee machine?
Yes. We deliver to your venue, set the machine up on the surface you’ve prepared, and walk you through how to operate it before leaving. The machine needs a stable surface, a nearby power point, and a water source for refilling the water tank. Delivery is available across Johannesburg, Randburg, Sandton, Midrand, and Pretoria. Fees are calculated from our depot.
Can we collect the coffee machine ourselves?
Yes — collecting from our depot saves the delivery fee. Our team walks you through setup and operation at collection. The machine needs to travel upright and secured, so come prepared with boot space and strapping. Return it the following day as agreed.
What power does a coffee machine need?
Commercial espresso machines are among the higher-draw appliances in the event hire range — typically 1,500 to 2,000 watts. A dedicated 220V circuit is best; don’t share the line with a slush machine, microwave, or urn. Older buildings with 15-amp wiring can trip a breaker under this load if other things are running simultaneously. If you’re unsure about your venue’s electrical setup, let us know before the event. This is one of the more common things to check in advance, especially at church halls, older Joburg homes, or farm venues.
How long does the coffee machine take to warm up?
The Aulika Evo Top HSC runs a short warm-up and automatic rinse when it’s switched on, then it’s ready to start serving. For best results during your event, leave it on so it stays at a consistent operating temperature (rather than switching it off and on between rushes).
Do I need to hire a barista or operator for the coffee machine?
Not necessarily. Fully automatic machines are designed for non-specialists: select the drink, press the button. We show you everything at setup and the machine provides helpful prompts as well. That said, if you want faster throughput during peak demand, or just don’t want to think about it at all, operator hire is available as an add-on. It’s not included in the standard coffee machine hire rate. For larger corporate events or anything with a concentrated break period where everyone wants coffee at once, staffed hire often pays for itself.
Can I use dairy-free milk in the hired coffee machine?
No — the machine cannot reliably froth dairy-free milk.

If you’re switching between dairy milk and non-dairy milk, note that the machine uses the same internal milk lines, so there can be cross-contamination unless the entire system is cleaned first.

You can still make an espresso or black coffee and add dairy-free milk separately. Source the alternative milk yourself; it’s not part of the standard hire.
Do I need to clean the coffee machine before it’s returned?
No cleaning required from you. Switch the machine off when the event is done. If milk is sitting in the frothing wand, rinse it with water before it sets — that’s the one thing that’s annoying to clean if left overnight. Don’t disassemble the group head or internal components. We handle all cleaning and sanitising back at the depot.
Can I use the hired coffee machine outdoors?
Yes, under cover. A covered patio, gazebo, or canopy is fine; the machine cannot get wet or be used in rain. A nearby plug point and a clean, flat counter surface are the practical requirements. Outdoors in the open is not suitable where there is a risk of rain.
Is a coffee machine safe to have at an event with children?
Yes, it can be used near children, but it must be set up on a stable, flat surface that cannot be knocked over. The machine has hot surfaces — so keep children from touching it. The machine must be operated by an adult at all times.
How far in advance should I book coffee machine hire?
A week’s notice is usually fine during quieter periods. Corporate year-end functions, December events, and the winter months when indoor meetings and conferences pick up are busier — for those, book as early as you can. If you’re planning a corporate event in Sandton or Pretoria from September onward, earlier is always better. We start seeing the December calendar fill well before November arrives.
What happens if I need to change or cancel my coffee machine hire booking?
Let us know in writing as soon as possible. Changes can usually be accommodated up to two weeks before the event, subject to availability. Cancellations more than 7 working days before the event qualify for a full refund. Cancel within 7 working days and the booking fee is not refunded.
What events is coffee machine hire suited to?
Coffee machine hire makes the most difference at events where guests expect a proper coffee experience — corporate training days, board meetings, conferences, year-end functions, and morning workshops in Sandton and Midrand where instant coffee would be noticed and judged. It’s also a strong fit for self-service events where you want guests to help themselves (with simple button-press drinks), but still want café-style coffee. It also works well at markets, pop-up events, and longer weddings where the reception stretches into the evening. Church events and community fundraisers where a coffee station draws people are another consistent booking. If you’re running an event where keeping adults alert and comfortable matters, coffee machine hire earns its place on the budget.
More about coffee machine hire randburg, johannesburg

Coffee that keeps your event energised

Coffee machine hire is one of the simplest ways to level up the guest experience. Fresh espresso on demand keeps morning conferences focused, makes wedding receptions feel more welcoming, and gives community events that “we’ve thought of everything” touch.

With a dedicated coffee station, guests can help themselves to café-style favourites — cappuccinos, lattes, americanos and espressos — without waiting for someone to boil kettles or manage an urn. It feels premium, it smells incredible, and it keeps people comfortable (and lingering a little longer).

What’s included with our coffee machine hire

Our coffee machine hire packages are designed to be easy for hosts:

- Commercial coffee machine (espresso-based)
- Coffee beans
- Milk, sugar and stirrers
- Cups with lids (for the guest count you book)

We deliver, set it up, and give you a quick walkthrough so whoever is running the station feels confident.

Espresso station vs urn coffee (why guests notice the difference)

Urn coffee works for pure volume, but it rarely feels like a treat. Coffee machine hire gives you fresh espresso shots and properly textured milk — the kind of coffee people actually look forward to between sessions or after a meal.

Cappuccinos are a crowd favourite, and our espresso machine makes cappuccinos alongside all the other café-style drinks your guests expect — lattes, americanos and espressos.

Planning for peak times (breaks, queues and speed)

A single commercial unit is ideal for steady service, especially when guests are arriving in waves. For big “everyone hits the break at once” moments, coffee machine hire works best when you plan for the rush.

As a guide, expect roughly 60–80 cups per hour when the station is running smoothly. With a high-speed milk (HSC) system, it can brew a cappuccino in about 28–35 seconds. If you have a tight programme with a short, high-traffic break, we can recommend the best setup, whether that’s an operator add-on or simply planning a longer service window.

Power and placement (simple requirements)

Coffee machine hire needs a standard 220V plug point and a reliable power source. As a rule of thumb, allow about 1,500–2,000W and keep the machine on a dedicated circuit where possible (rather than sharing with other high-draw items).

Place the station on a sturdy table with enough space for cups, milk, sugar and a small queue. If you tell us your venue layout when you enquire, we’ll help you choose a spot that looks great and keeps service moving.

Where coffee machine hire works brilliantly

Coffee machine hire is a standout for:

- Conferences, launches, board retreats and corporate events
- Weddings (especially for long receptions and late-night pick-me-ups)
- Markets, pop-ups and fundraisers with adult crowds
- Church and community programmes where a warm drink makes people feel welcome

For presentation-ready venues, pair it with sound system hire and presentation pack hire.
