Frequently asked questions

How does bubble machine hire work?
Book the machine, we deliver it to your venue with enough bubble fluid for your event, and set it up in the spot you’ve chosen. Switch it on and it runs on its own — no ongoing operation needed. We collect after the event. It’s one of the simplest machines we hire out, and genuinely one of the most crowd-pleasing.
What’s included when I hire a bubble machine?
The hire includes the bubble machine and bubble fluid for the duration of your event. We fill the tank before delivery so it’s ready to go immediately. For a long event or if you plan to run the machine throughout the full day, let us know when you book — additional fluid can be provided and it’s better to have more than you need.
How many bubbles does the machine produce?
Hire-grade machines are built for a proper continuous stream — the sort of output suppliers typically describe as hundreds of bubbles per minute, not a thin trickle from a toy. We don’t fixate on a single “bubble count” because fluid, placement, and draughts all change what you see day to day. In calm air, bubbles often drift several metres before they pop; outdoors a breeze shortens that, while indoors in still air they can float even further — great for kids’ parties and making a standard hall feel a bit magical.
How long does a tank of bubble fluid last?
At full output, a standard 1.5 to 2-litre tank runs for approximately 60 to 90 minutes of continuous use. We include enough fluid for your event, but if you’re planning to run the machine all day — a school fête in Pretoria or a full-afternoon party in Randburg — tell us and we’ll send extra. Refilling the tank takes about 30 seconds; we show you where it is and how to do it at delivery.
Do you deliver and set up the bubble machine?
Yes. We deliver to your venue, position the machine where you’d like it, and collect after the event. Bubble machines need very little space — a stable table or a stand works perfectly. Delivery is available across Johannesburg, Randburg, Sandton, Midrand, and Pretoria; fees are based on your distance from our depot.
Can we collect the bubble machine ourselves?
Yes — self-collection saves the delivery fee. The machine is compact and easy to transport. We’ll show you how to fill the tank and operate it at collection. There’s very little to learn: it’s a plug-in-and-run appliance.
What power does a bubble machine need?
A standard 220 V South African plug point. The beamZ B500 is rated for 220–240 V AC, 50 Hz and draws only about 40 watts, so it is a genuinely low-power appliance and sits comfortably on a normal circuit with other kit. A standard extension lead is fine if the nearest outlet is a few metres away.
Does someone need to operate the bubble machine during the event?
No. Once it’s switched on, it runs by itself until the fluid runs low. You or a guest just needs to top up the tank when needed — we show you how at delivery and it takes about 30 seconds. If you’d prefer one of our staff there for the event as a play host or machine monitor, that’s available as an add-on. Most hirers manage it themselves without any difficulty.
Is the bubble fluid safe for children and pets?
Yes. Standard bubble fluid is water-based and non-toxic — essentially the same chemistry as the bubble bottles you’d buy for a child. If it gets into a child’s eyes, rinse with clean water. It shouldn’t be swallowed in large amounts; keep the fluid bottle and tank out of reach of very small children. Pets who walk through the bubble zone are fine; just keep animals from drinking directly from the tank. One practical note for kids’ parties: when fluid settles on smooth indoor floors it can get slick underfoot, so placement matters — set the machine so little ones aren’t tearing across a slippery patch where bubbles have been landing.
Can bubble fluid make floors slippery?
Yes — this is worth planning for, especially indoors. Bubble fluid that settles on tile, polished concrete, or wooden floors makes the surface noticeably slippery while it’s wet. For indoor events, position the machine somewhere with good air circulation so bubbles pop before reaching the ground, or place it near a surface that isn’t a main walkway. Outdoors on grass, this is generally not an issue. If you’re using the machine at a party on a tiled or polished floor — a hall, a patio, a conservatory — keep the output zone away from high-foot-traffic areas.
Can a bubble machine be used outdoors?
Yes. Outdoors in calm conditions, bubbles float beautifully and drift several metres. In a light breeze they’ll travel sideways, which can look good or be unpredictable depending on the setup. In strong wind, bubbles pop almost immediately and the visual effect is minimal. Indoors — in a hall, under a gazebo, in a marquee — the bubbles last longer and fill the space more effectively, which is why indoor events tend to get the best visual result. Factor in the conditions when you decide where to position it.
Are there any safety considerations with a bubble machine?
The machine itself is low-risk — no heat, no exposed moving parts accessible to little hands, no sharp edges. The main safety point is the slippery floor risk on hard surfaces (covered above). Keep children from drinking the fluid and don’t let them put their face directly in front of the output nozzle. For kids’ parties, position the machine at adult height if possible so small children can’t reach in and pull at the fluid tank.
Do I need to clean the bubble machine before it’s returned?
No. Switch it off at the end of the event and leave any remaining fluid in the tank — don’t tip the machine on its side to drain it. We clean and service all machines between hires.
What happens if I need to change or cancel my booking?
Let us know in writing as soon as you know. Changes can usually be accommodated up to two weeks before the event, subject to availability. Cancellations more than 7 working days before the event qualify for a full refund. Cancel within 7 working days and the booking fee is not refunded.
What events is bubble machine hire suited to?
Kids’ birthday parties are the most consistent booking — toddlers and young children are captivated by bubbles in a way that’s hard to replicate with any other effect. But bubble machine hire works well beyond the birthday circuit: school fêtes, gender reveals, garden weddings, church events, community days, and any event where you want something visually delightful without requiring any effort to run. They’re also used as a photo backdrop at outdoor Johannesburg and Pretoria garden events, where bubbles drifting through a frame photograph well. Pair with a candy floss machine hire or popcorn machine hire for a full fun station setup at a kids’ event.
More about bubble machine hire randburg, johannesburg

Simple, reliable, and kids love it every time

Bubble machine hire is wonderfully straightforward: switch it on and bubbles fill the space. Young guests tend to gravitate toward them almost immediately — there’s something about the movement, the shimmer in the light, and that split-second before a bubble pops that keeps kids absorbed. Whatever magic is going on there, the effect is consistent from toddlers upward.

For party planners and parents, that usually means a stretch of entertainment that largely runs itself. Position the machine sensibly, turn it on, and you’re not tied to operating it or refereeing a complicated activity. No warm-up, no special skills — just a dependable bit of fun when you’re figuring out how to keep children happily occupied at a birthday, a family day, or a school event.

Outdoors or indoors — what to expect

Outdoors in calm or light breeze, bubble machine hire looks gorgeous: bubbles drift, catch the sun, and can fill a Johannesburg garden in a way that photographs beautifully. If it’s breezier, bubbles may scatter — sometimes that’s part of the charm; sometimes most of them float away from where the kids are before anyone can chase them. In strong, sustained wind the effect is weaker because bubbles often pop soon after they leave the nozzle.

If your party is outside, a quick thought about placement goes a long way. A corner near a wall or fence, under a covered patio, or at the sheltered side of a gazebo usually gives bubbles enough still air to linger and build instead of vanishing straight away. When you’ve already pictured roughly where it could sit, handover and setup on the day tends to feel effortless.

Indoors — a hall or function room — still air often makes the display even more striking than many outdoor setups. Bubble fluid is water-based and can leave smooth floors (tile, polished concrete) slightly slick, so we’d suggest keeping the machine clear of busy walkways where people are rushing past.

Events that suit bubble machine hire

Children’s birthday parties are the natural fit. Bubble machines also shine anywhere you’ll have plenty of younger guests: school fêtes, sports days, community family events, and church programmes across Johannesburg, Randburg, and Midrand. They’ve worked nicely at weddings and garden cocktail hours during arrivals too — guests spot them, snap photos, and the gentle movement lifts the mood without anyone needing to “run” an activity.

At school events in particular, they’re a modest-cost, high-impact extra that teachers and parents often welcome: kids stay happily busy while the bubble zone feels calm for as long as it’s running.

Pairings that work especially well

Two combinations stand out. First, alongside UV glow party pack hire — under UV, bubbles catch the light and add motion and sparkle alongside your glow setup. At a teen glow party or Halloween event in Johannesburg, that pairing can look genuinely striking.

Second, with soft play toys hire for younger children’s parties: soft play gives a defined play area, while a bubble machine at the edge gives something to wander toward, chase, and drift back from. The two use different spaces and different energies, so together they usually stay interesting longer than either on its own.
